LIEUT.-COL. W. G. MALONE
A PROPOSED MEMORIAL. . (To the Editor.) Sir, —May we' be allowed to use your columns to bring to the notice of members of the Wellington Regiment of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force, the decision of the regiment to raise, a memorial to the late Lieut.-Colonel W. G. Malone in his adopted town of Stratford? A site has been chosen at the Fenton Street entrance to the Stratford Domain, and the regimental funds have contributed a sum of £lOO to the cost of the memorial, which, it is suggested, shall take the form of a stone obelisk with bronze panels, upon one of which will be a. bust of the. late colonel, in relief. There are many of the regiment who would feel disappointed at not being given an opportunity of contributing to keeping alive the memory of the first commanding officer of the regiment, and it is to them we should like this notice given. The undersigned, who form a sub-committee, appointed by the regiment for the purpose, will receive, contributions from 5s upwards. —We are, etc., E. P. COX, Hawera. CLAUDE H. WESTON, New Plymouth. MURRAY URQUHART, Toko. R. WOOD, Stratford. S. MACALISTER, Stratford.
