Amid appropriate military honors and stirring patriotic speeches, 349 Somme communes received the Croix de Guerre at the hands of the Minister of War (M. Barthou). Marshal Foch assisted. Lieut.-Gcneral Lord Cavan, representing Brit .in, was also present, as well as the Mayors of the municipalities of prominent English towns which have adopted ruined Somme villages.—Reuter Service.. •
