* HAWERA APPEAL UPHELD. NEW INQUIRY ORDERED. By Teleffranh. —Press Association Christchurch, Last Night. At an adjourned meeting of the New Zealand Hockey Association, a letter was received from Canterbury withdrawing their challenge for the shield [ and forwarding a challenge for the Hatch Cup against Otago. The Canterbury Association agreed to arrange and control the inter-island match. An appeal lodged by five members of the Rivals Club (Hawera) against their suspension was upheld, and the Taranaki Association was requested to hold a fresh inquiry under their own rules. At a meeting of the Canterbury Ladies’ Hockey Association, it was agreed to forward a remit to the New Zealand Ladies’ Association that tournaments be abolished, and that no team be sent to this year’s tournament.
