“BRAN PIE”

WAITARA MONDAY NEXT. INGLEWOOD THURSDAY NEXT. Great interest has been aroused in Waitara and Inglewood by the announcement that the New Plymouth Courtiers’ Costume Comedy Co. will stage their instantaneous success, “Bran Pie,” in those towns on Monday and Thursday next respectively. There can be no doubt that “Bran Pie” has had a tremendous reception in New Plymouth, where hundreds were turned away nightly for all four performances. The Daily News in reporting the first performance said: Summed up, it is a bright, clean entertainment with a pervading crisp humor and items that have the recommendation of good quality. The “Cheero” chorus opens the company’s repertoire, and the fun is kept up throughout. “The Bhoys” indulge in “A Little Bit of Scandal,” and references to town topics contained therein were clever and well placed, and duly appreciated by the audience. In humorous sketches Mrs. Birch-Johnson and Mr. Basil Hartman provided a wealth of fun. “A Cranky One and You ’Auto’ Like it,” as the title implies, was a burlesque with a motor flavor, which was well maintained, while “A Few Impressions of Daily Life,” were portrayed with skill. “There’s Safety in Numbers” was demonstrated by Alf. North and company in the presentation of “A Bachelor Gay.” Mrs. Birch-Johnson was very successful in the highly amusing items, “Oh, Boys She Wants Someone to Love Her,” and “They Go Wild Over Me,” the reception given indicating that the numbers were heartily welcome. “She’s the Pride of the Pier” was another in this series. The box plans for the Waitara performance are now open at Rattenbury’s (late Gribbons’). and for Inglewood the plans open at Sutherland’s this morning at 9 o’clock? Prices are +he same as nt New Plymouth- 4s (reserved), 3s, 2s (olus tax).
