RAISING NEW CAPITAL. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night.’ A meeting of shareholder# of the Wellington Gas Company to-day carried a proposal to raise a sum not exceeding £350,000. PUBLIC SERVICE ASSOCIATION. Wellington,* June 24. Members of the Council of the Public Service Association waited on the Public Service Commissioner and discussed the remits passed by the conference. Thom, H. Nuttall, and J.. McCulloch. SHEARERS’ ACCOMMODATION. Wellington, June. 24. A deputation of the New Zealand Workers’ Union interviewed the Minister of Labor respecting shearers’ accommodation. The deputation stated that the accommodation was 100 per cent, better than five years ago, but still many employers ignored the inspectors' instructions. They asked that definite regulations on the lines for the flaxmilling industry should be issued for the guidance of inspectors. They also suggested improvements in the lining of huts, sleeping accommodation, water supply and drying rooms. The Minister promised to have immediate instructions given to prevent the use of contaminated water supply. He would also look thoroughly into the other requests. A MISSING BANKRUPT. Dunedin, June 24. A creditors’ meeting in the estate of Harry Knewell, importer, who has not been seen since Easter, was held to-day. The liabilities exceed £5OOO. The principal creditors are Laidlaw and Gray ( £3500). Meantime the assignee will realise the stock of motor apparatus and cars. The whereabouts of the bankrupt is Dot known .
