INGLEWOOD.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) The final meeting in the first round of the cribbage tournament being carried on by the local cribbage clubs took place on Thursday last. The Waitoriki players had to meet their opponents of the Egmont Village Club at Egmont Village, and for their pluck, shown by facing the journey in such inclement weather as prevailed that night, certainly deserved a better fate. The other clubs played in the Druids* Hall at Inglewood. The results were:—Egmont Village 28 v. Waitoriki 22; Fire Brigade 27 v. Druids 23; Egmont Village 28 v. Waitoriki 22. The position, therefore, of the various clubs for the first series in the tournay is: Egmont Village and Inglewood Fire Brigade 4 wins and 1 loss each; Foresters 3 wins and 2 losses; Bowlers 2 wins and 3 losses; Waitoriki and Druids 1 win and 4 losses each. The first meeting for the second and final series will be held on Thursday next, Egmont Village and the Druids at Egmont Village and other teams at the Druids’ Hall, Inglewood.
