Football in Taranaki has been spoilt this season to a great extent by the practice adopted by the majority of clubs of continually kicking the ball into touch once they get a lead. This would be done away with to a large extent if the Auckland rule were adopted. Tte Auckland rule reads: “When the ball pitches Into touch from a kick other than a penalty kick or a kick from within twenty-five yards of the kicers’ goal line, the opposition side shall bring it into play either by a line out or a scrummage at a point opposite the spot where the kicker was when he kicked the bull.’’
