MAILS FOR ENGLAND.
CONTRACT RENEWED FOR YEAR. By Telegraph— Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. It was announced recently that the Post and Telegraph Department had renewed the overseas mail contract for the carriage of mails to San Francisco and Vancouver for a year. This renewal was arranged in’view of the impossibility of arranging at the present time for any alternative service, but when the contract expires in a year the Government will be in a position to call for tenders to consider whether any improved service can be devised.
