NEW SOUTH WALES ORCHESTRA. By Telegraph— Presi Assn.—Copyright Sydney, June 1. Mr, E. Wunderlich, honorary secretary of the Conservatorium orchestra committee, states that the response to the guarantee fund is unsatisfactory and will probably mean the disbanding of the orchestra. Eighteen hundred shares have been applied for and 7000 are necessary.
MOUNT MORGAN MINE. Brisbane, June 1. The Mount Morgan Company gave the stall' a month’s notice but informed employees that they cpuld remain if willing to accept 20 per cent reduction in wages. DEATH OF MOTOR CYCLIST. Melbourne, June 1. At the inquest on Harold Parsons, the well-known motor-cyclist, who was killed on May 14 by colliding with a horse, it was stated that deceased was travelling at 85 miles an hour testing the speed of a motor bicycle., SYDNEY STATE BUTCHERY. •Sydney, June 1. The manager of the new State butchery says a profit of £3O resulted from 2/ 2 days’ business. He claims that it has lowered the retail price of meat by 5d per lb. The State is selling rump and fillet steak at 9d and lOd against Is (id and Is Sd, the prices ruling elsewhere.
