WAITARA.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) The Chamber of Commerce is to be revived. May 27. The alteration of the market day from Saturday to Friday has touched the generosity of a number of our local tradesmen in almost giving away goods on the Friday as an inducement to trade on Friday. Ordinaiy prices are to be charged on other days. Mr. McVilly, the General Manager for Railways, visited Waitara on Monday afternoon. He was met by the Mayor, who accompanied the General Manager round the precincts of the station. The most urgent reform—the shifting of the engine-shed—was placed before Mr. McVilly, but he said there was no chance of that being done. The bad lighting of the station, however, will be gone into. At the card tournament, held on Thursday evening, the Druids beat the Citizens’ team by 29 games to 20.
