The extremely boisterous weather conditions last night affected the attendance at the dance held in the Town Hall by the Stratford and Egmont Hockey Clubs. However, fully seventy couples were present, which must be regarded as highly satisfactory in view of the circumstances. The hall was tastefully decorated in the club’s colors. The music in the early part of the evening was supplied by Miss Moon and Mrs. Gaffaney, Fox’s orchestra providing the music for the latter part of the evening. Miss Armstrong played an extra The duties of M.C. were capably carried out by Mr. P. Aitken. A handsomelydecorated cake, donated by Mr. Bert Davis, is to form the subject of a guessing competition. An Eltham business man, who was motoring back from Stratford during a very heavy fall of rain last night, was unable to distinguish, clearly a bend in the road near the intersection of Mountain and Junction Roads, with the result that his car turned on to the footpath. After proceeding along the foot-, path for a few yards he turned his car into the road again, but the big drop from the footpath to the road caused the front axle to bend, and one of the wheels broke into splinters. Fortunately no one was hurt, and the ear was safely removed into a garage for repairs today. Particulars of the offerings at Lamason’s weekly mart sale to-day are advertised in this issue.

LAMAS'ON’S WEEKLY REPORT. Mr. T. Lamason reports as follows: Last Saturday I had a very large entry of poultry, furniture, etc. Prices were very satisfactory. Good laying sorts were in keen demand. Quotations are as follows:—Young hens, 3s, 4s; pullets, 7s, 10s; cockerels, 2s, 3s; others up to ss; laying ducks, 4s 6d, ss; drakes, 3s, 4s. Potatoes, £8 10s per ton; good whole fowl wheat. 1-1 s; mixed corn, 7s 3d; bran 18s per 1801bs; pollard, £1 8s 6d; sucrosene, £1 15s; best quality horse and cow covers, market rates; best. o.s. chaff, 9s sd, 7s 6d per sack; other lines at current rates.
