CHARGE OF MURDER.
FATAL FIRE IN MELBOURNE. MANAGING DIRECTOR CHARGED. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received May 26, 9.50 p.m. Melbourne, May 26. The Coroner committed Morton Palmer Pimental, managing director of the Federated Films, Ltd., for trial on a charge of maliciously setting fire to Nunan’s Buildings, and the wilful murder of Gertrude Riley. Bail was refused. — Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
[The fire occurred on April 14, and caused damage estimated at £20,000. Miss G. Riley, who was employed in the building, after telephoning her employer that the workrooms were ablaze, was overcome by the smoke and heat and burned to death.]
