The Coroner committed Morton Palmer Pimental, managing director of the Federated Films, Ltd., for trial on a charge of maliciously setting fire to Nunan’s Buildings, and the wilful murder of Gertrude Riley. Bail was refused. — Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.

[The fire occurred on April 14, and caused damage estimated at £20,000. Miss G. Riley, who was employed in the building, after telephoning her employer that the workrooms were ablaze, was overcome by the smoke and heat and burned to death.]
