ULSTER POLLS.

COUNTING THE VOTES. ATTEMPT TO DESTROY THEM. VAN WITH BOXES AMBUSHED. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright, Received May 26, 11.45 p.m. London, May 25. The counting of rotes in Ulster has begun. The ballot boxes are taken to headquarters in pantechnicon vans, guarded by armoured cars. One detachment was ’ambushed in Tyrone. After an hour’s fight a police motor dashed through the fire zone to Plumbridge and brought the military, whereupon the assailants fled. The Nationalists allege brutal intimidation, and declare the voting queues were stoned, and the Nationalists were only able to vote freely in certain quarters of Belfast, where the Crown forces were reinforced. There is general relief, however, that the day passed without serious disturbance.—Reuter Service.

London, May 25. The police and military in lorries and armored cars guarded the pantechnicon vans by which the Ulster ballot-boxes were collected.

An outstanding feature in Armagh was the large number of impersonations, particularly of dead persons. The chief offenders were women who changed their dress each time. One woman, who was detected, admitted having voted five times.
