’VARSITY TOURING TEAM.

MATCH AGAINST WELLINGTON.

Despite unfavorable weather a good crowd attended the first Rugby representative match of the season to-day, Wellington versus the New Zealand University team to tour Australia.

'Varsity had the better of the game and showed superior play in all departments. In the first half Wiseman and Scott scored tries for 'Varsity, and King kicked a penalty goal for Wellington. In the second talf play Improved. Wiseman and Craven secured tries for 'Varsity, no goals resulting from the kicks, and Algar scored a try for Wellington. The 'Varsity team worked well, Siddels, Maxwell and Perry (backs), pleasing the spectators, Cabor and •Jackson standing out among the forwards. Nicol and Roberts were the most prominent Wellington backs, and Malin, Standen and Price in the forwards. The serum work, heeling out, and passing of the 'Varsity men was good.

TEAMS FOR SATURDAY.

The following will represent Okato v. Inglewood at Okato on Saturday; Corbett (2), O'Sullivan (2), Shotter, Fox, McCarty, Robson, Harnett, Norgate, Milne, Gilhooly, Waiwlri, Mare, Walshe.

THE LEAGUE GAME.

Williams, Tancred, Meadows. Burrows, Shadbolt. Reserves: Backs Polson and Laing; forwards, Paki am’ Walters. Mitchell (Canterbury) is unable to make the tour and C. McCarthy (Hawke's Bay) replaces him.

By Telegraph.—Press Assn—Copyright. Melbourne, May 18. The administrators of British Association football have decided to ask New Zealand to receive a combined New South Wales and Queensland team in 1922, in lieu of the New South Wales team in 1922, as requested by New Zealand.
