CARD TOURNAMENT.
May IS. At the Foresters’ Hall last night, the U.A.O. Druids met the 1.0.0. F., N.Z., in a friendly game of cards. This was the first of a series of matches to be played amongst the Friendly Societies this winter. A very enjoyable evening was spent. The Oddfellows won by the narrow margin of ten games. The following are the scores (Oddfellows being mentioned first): —Cribbage: A. Klee and R. E. Thomas 9 v. B. Green arid B. Rowe 2; R. G. Jamieson and J. W. McKain 5 v. A. Nelson and J. Sharrock 3; C. H. Gatton and A. George 4 v. W. Rudkin and H. Adams 2. Euchre: G. Gray and W. E. Wells 5 v. H. Warcup and F. Dixon 2; P. T. Aitken and G. A. Blennerhassett 2 v W. Ferguson and J. Main 3; W. Milne and C. P. Theobald 4 v. Haggarty and T. Smith 5. Totals.— Oddfellows 27, Druids 17. Bro. W. Abraham, A.D., welcomed the visitors. He said such gatherings as this helped to strengthen the bonds of fellowship existing between Friendly Societies, and hoped that the evening would be a forerunner to many more such in the future.
Bro. R. G. Jamieson, N.G., suitably replied on behalf of the winners, and thanked the Druids for the splendid evening. Cheers for the winners and losers terminated a very enjoyable evening.
T. ROBERTS FUND.
The following subscriptions have been received on behalf of Mr. T. Roberts, who is blind, and has recently lost his wife. This effort is being made to assist to some extent to make life a little easier for him. Anyone who has been overlooked, and who wishes to contribute to the fund, may leave donations with Mr. W. A. AND P. CONCERT
The grand concert, to be held in the Town Hall to-morrow (Thursday) night, under the auspices of the Stratford A. and P. Association, promises to be even more successful than those held in previous rears. The booking has been particularly good, but late comers still have the choice of a few seats,. which may be reserved to-morrow morning. The programme, which is advertised in this issue, is a specially good one, calculated to please all who attend the concerts.
