AVIATION IN DOMINION
RETURN OF APRIL OPERATIONS.
A return of the aviation operations in New Zealand during April .shows that 510 passengers were carried; the flying time totalled 73 hours 42 minutes, and the machine mileage was 4942. The New Zealand Flying School, Auckland, carried 80 nassengers; its flying record was 19 i 522 minutes, and 1327 miles. The Canterbury Aviation Company, Christchurch, parried 33 passengers; flying time, 20 hours 40 minutes —1230 miles. The New Zealand Aero Transport Company, Timaru, carried 397 passengers; flying time, 33 hours 40 minutes —2335 miles. The New Zealand Aerial Transport Company, Hastings, has temporarily suspended operations. The New Zealand Flying School made some long-distance flights, including one from Auckland to Onerahi and Russell. A considerable part of its pfileage comprises instructional fights by pupils. The Canterbury Aviation Company did six days’ flying (amounting to 1140 miles) on the ChristthurchTimaru mail-service, and this is included in the return. Passenger trips made by the Timaru Company include two Timaru-Dunedin trips. The Timaru Company’s machines also visited various centres in South Canterbury and North Otago, and made flights at the headquarters aerodrome.
