BOXING.
TOURNAMENT TO-MORROW
Arrangements for the Taranaki Boxing Association’s tournament, which takes place in the Empire Theatre to-morrow night, are now completed. Everything points to there being a bumper house for the opening tournament. The association Is putting forward the best programme yet presented in New Plymouth, and expense Is not being spared to give patrons a good night's sport. As has already been stated, the professional bout between Thompson and Richardson is going to be a ding-dong go from start to finish. There will be plenty of excitement, and lovers of a good straight-out bout will not be disappointed. The amateur events should also be of a high order, all the contestants being well matched aqd having the reputation of clever boxers. A special stage has been erected at the Empire Theatre on which provision has been made for a limited number of ring-side seats.
Mr. Tim Tracey, the well-known Wellington referee, arrived by last night’s train.
