THE HOMELESS FRENCH.

CRISIS LEADS TO TRAGEDIES. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received May 11, 8 p.m. Paris, May 10. The housing crisis in France is becoming tragical. A workman in Lille was unable tq secure a house for himself and his prospective bride -and the latter broke off the engagement, whereupon the unsuccessful house hunter fatally shot her and surrendered to the police. There are many cases of. old people hanging or drowning themselves as a result of ejection from homes. The housing relief society in Toulon forcibly seized empty convents in defiance of the authorities and installed homeless families therein. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
