POULTRY SHOW.
The poultry show to be held on the first three days of the Taranaki A. and P. Society’s Winter Show should create more than ordinary interest amongst owners and breeders of high-class birds. The schedule of classes and prizes now in circulation is by far the most complete the society has issued. No less than 53 special prizes are offered, besides 10 trophies and 5 gold medals. The New Zealand Orpington Club has favored the society by holding its championship competitions at the show, and the North Island Poultry, Pigeon and Canary Association has allotted championships for English Brown Leghorn (male), Old English Game (male), Silver Wyandotte (female), Utility Black Minorca (female), Game Bantams (female), Tumbler Pigeons and Fantail Pigeons, Buff Norwich and Yorkshire Color Fed Canaries. Mr. Chas. J. Bryant, who comes from Australia with a great reputation as an all-round poultry judge, has been selected to judge all classes of poultry and ducks, whilst Mr. A. C. Johnstone, of Auroa, whose capabilities are known by Taranaki breeders, has been engaged to judge the pigeon and canary classes. Sections for almost every, class of bird reared in the Dominion to be found in the schedule, which may be obtained free on application to the secretary, P.O. Box 18, New Plymouth, or at the office in Collett and Co.’s buildings, Currie Street, New Plymouth. All entries for poultry, children’s pets, and cat classes will close on Saturday, May 21 next, at 9 p.m.
