CONFLICT WITH (POLICE.
By Telegraph.—Press Assn —Copyright. Cairo, May 1. During a demonstration at Tantah a disorderly section attacked apd drove back the police who interfered. When the Governor appealed to the demonstrators to disperse his motor-car was seized and burned, and the Governor was imprisoned in his residence. The police were reinforced and fired upon the mob, killing two or three and wounding several. Egyptian troops were sent from Cairo to the scene.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
POSSIBLE FRICTION WITH AMERICA.
Cairo, May 1. Owing to failure of the United States to reply to a circular asking it to agree to the extension of the present Mixed Courts for six months, Americans will be deprived after Monday of legal rights other than in the Consular Courts. The situation contains the germs of Anglo-American friction.— Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
