RACING COMMISSION.
VISIT TO TARANAKI
The members of the Racing Commission left Wanganui by the early morning train yesterday and proceeded as far as AVaverley, where they were met by officials of the Waverley Racing Club and Egmont-Wanganui Hunt Club. They visited the AVaverley racecourse and inspected the improvements, including the up-to-date concrete stand now in course of erection. By the afternoon train they proceeded to Patea, where they were met by Mr. E., Dixon, M.P. for Patea, Air. G. V. Pearce and others. The commission prplceeded to Hawera by the mail train last evening, being met at the station by Air. J. Gray (vicepresident), V. B. Stratton (secretary) and other officials of the Egmont Racing Club, and by Mr. A. Good, president of the Opunake Racing Club. To-day they will visit the Hawera racecourse, afterwards proceeding to Opunake, arriving at Stratford in the even- ' ing. Wednesday will be spent in the Stratford district, and that evening they will reach New Plymouth, where the following day will'be spent.
