MINERS’ DEMANDS.
NO DEVELOPMENTS. NEXT MOVE WITH THE MEN. DECISION UNLIKELY THIS WEEK. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. No fresh developments have yet been reported in connection with the mining difficulty as a sequel to the collapse of the conference between the mine-owners and the Miners’ Federation. The next move is expected from the miners, as the owners took up a firm attitude at the conference, stressing the point that their consent to the miners’ demands meant a greatly increased price of coal. Mr. Arbuckle, the federation secretary, said the result of the conference was being reported to the unions and in the meantime there was nothing to report.
The federation members’ decision cannot be known for some days and it is unlikely there will be any important developments until next week.
