N.P. FIRE BRIGADE.
ANNUAL RE-UNION. TJie annual meeting and re-union ; of the New Plymouth Volunteer Fire Brigade was held at the Central Fire Station last night, Superintendent F. C. J. Bellringer presiding. In reviewing the operations of the past twelve months the chairman remarked that it was the first year since the war period that the brigade had had the benefit of the re-union of all its members. He expressed pleasure at the good work done, stating that the officers associated with him had assisted materially, and the rank and file had also done their part. The following officers were chosen for the ensuing year:—Superintendent, Mr. Bellringer; sub-superintendent, Mr. A. Boon; central foreman, Mr. H. Ford; ladder carriage foreman, Mr. J. Clark; treasurer, Mr. Bellringer\ executive officers ex officio and Firemen H. Inch and A. Courtenay; auditors, Custodian F. Doughty and Fireman H. Way; secre-; tary, Mr. H. Ford. A resolution was passed expressing appreciation of the many services rendered to the brigade during the year by the custodian’s wife (Mrs. Doughty).
The following service decorations were earned during the year by members of the brigade:—Secretary Ford 29 years; Lieut. A. Boon 23 years; Fireman Clark and Fireman Way 19 years; Fireman H. Moon 17 years; Fireman A. Courtenay and Custodian F. Doughty 13 years; Fireman G. Malam 9 years; Fireman C. Allen 7 years; Fireman C. Goldsmith and F. Nichols 3 years. There were thirty-six roll-calls during the year, and Superintendent Bellringer and. Fireman Moody secured the possible, being present on every occasion. Others who were high in the attendance list were: Secretary Ford, Custodian Doughty, Fireman Inch and Nichols 35 each; Lieut. Boon and Fireman Mundt 34; Fireman W. Way and J. , Clark 33.
At the conclusion of the business a social gathering was held, and a short toast list, interspersed with numerous musical items, was gone through. Among the toasts honored were: “The New Plymouth Fire Brigade” (proposed by Captain Parkin, Fitzroy, and responded to by Superintendent Bellringer) ; “The Fitzroy Fire Brigade” (proposed by the chairman and responded to by Captain Parkin); “The United Fire Brigades' Association” (proposed by Secretary Ford and responded to by the chairman); “The Taranaki District Fire Brigades’ Association” (proposed by Lieut. Boon and responded to by Captain Parkin and Custodian Doughty).
