MANY PEOPLE TRAVEL.

RECORD TOURIST SEASON. PASSENGERS FOR ENGLAND. It is evident that the financial stringency is not deterring people from travelling, either abroad, or in their own country (says the Auckland Herald). The Nihgara, which left Auckland on Saturday for Vancouver, had all her accommodation booked, and carried about 700 passengers. The majority 1 are bound for England. The Niagara has not made a trip to Vancouver since last October, and there is a considerable accumulationl of passengers by reason of this. Some of the people have been waiting many months. April, too, is always regarded as a favorite month for people to commence their journey to England, as they will arrive there in the early summer. The Makura, which is due to leave Auckland- for Vancouver on May 16, is also practically a full ship, and it is probable that the whole of her accommodation, for about 350 people, will be engaged. A large number •of berths have been booked. for the next trip of the Niagara. The number of travellers within the Dominion shows no diminution. The season has been a phenomenally busy one in respect of tourist traffic, the busiest, in fact, in the experience of both the Government Tourist office in Auckland and the Auckland office of Messrs. Thomas Cook and Sons. There have been many hundreds of visitors from abroad, but a very large proportion of the sight-seers were New Zealanders making themselves better acquainted with their own country. Rotorua and Taupo have this year been more popular than ever with tourists, there having been a steady flow of visitors to those resorts. During the last few days a slight slackening-pff has been noticed, this being accounted for by the fact that the season is now nearly at an end.
