CARGO PILLAGING.
HOSIERY WORTH £<>oo STOLEN. A serious ease of pillage was discovered in the C'uristchureh railway sheds last week. A local wholesale drapery firm had occasion to stop a case of hosiery for examination, and upon opening it, it was found that the entire contents (valued at £000) had been removed, and the case filled up with sacks, earth and bundles of wet paper. This case was part of an American shipment by the Maimoa. "it is largely a matter conjecture as to where the' pillage occurred, but the most feasible theory is that some carter in New York must have taken a load away from the factory late in the afternoon and delivered it to the ship the next morning, helping himself in the meantime-
