CIVIL AVIATION.
OPERATIONS IN DOMINION. PAST YEAR REVIEWED. A return oi civil aviation for the year ended March 31 last has been compiled by the Air Board. It shows a total of 2011 hours flown and a machine mileage of 158,757 miles. The number of passengers carried was 03oU>. There are now four flying companies opefSling, and 15 pilots are continuously engaged. The machines in the Dominion include 36 aeroplanes, four seaplanes, and three flying boats. The machine mileages of the four companies were as follows:—New Zealand Flying School (Auckland), 117,186; Canterbury Aviation Company, 29,647; New Zealand Aero Transport Company, 11,519; New Zealand Aerial Transport Company, 455. The two companies last named commenced operations within recent months.
