CRICKET.
THE AUSTRALIANS’ TOUR. AN IMPRESSION CORRECTED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. Edgar Waddy, a member of the Australian cricket team, writes with reference to the views on New Zealand cricket by Percival Waddy, which were published in Wellington papers and telegraphed by the Press Association. In many quarters theee comments have been wrongly attributed to the Australian visitor. He says: “I desire to eay that '•Percival Waddy’s views, as put forth in that letter on New Zealand cricket, are not my views, nor are they the views of any member of the Australian team, and I should be very sorry to be a party to such views. I desire that the statement that I am responsible for the letter in question should be contradicted as early as possible. I can only say this, with reference to our trip through the Dominion, that we found wherever we went your people could not do enough for us, and nothing was too much trouble for them, and I can only assure them that we, as Australians, feel very grateful to them, and will always remember this tour as pne of the most pleasing experiences in our cricket careers, and we are grateful to them for all they have done for us.”
THE AUSTRALIAN TEAM. By Telegraph.—Press Assn Copyright. Sydney, April 12. The quota from each State to finance the Australian eleven’s tour is: New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia £l3OO each, Queensland £l3O, Tasmania and West Australia £lOO each.
