From May 1 Marconi’s Wireless Company, by arrangement with the Peruvian Government, has acquired the right for 25 years to operate the whole postal and telegraphic wireless services of Peru, receiving 5 per cent cf the gross receipts and 50 per cent, of the annual profits. RUSSIAN PRISONERS DEMANDED. London, March 31. A Moscow wireless message states that Tchitcherin. has addressed a sharp Note, protesting against the detention of 25,000 Russian prisoners, chiefly in France, and some in North Africa. Tbe Note asserts thot the Soviet Jias ful* filled its obligations regarding |he repatriation of French- citizens from Russia, and adds that, if France does not comply, the Soviet will take suitable steps.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. IRISH-RELIEF FUND. Washington, March 31. The British Embassy states that a misapprehension appears to exist regarding the necessity for raising funds in America for Irish relief work. Sta-. tistics show that Ireland was never morie prosperous than now. In every case distress and destitution, aside from the unemployment due to normal trade depression and normal poverty, is due directly to the Sinn Fein rebellion. Sinn Fein regions refuse to accept funds raised in the United Kingdom for aid, but appeal to x America for charity.

The British Government, while not agreeing that there is any need for American charity, will not place unnecessary obstacles in the way of any charitable organisation constituted on a strictly non-political basis.—Aus.-N.Z. President Harding is reconsidering the choice of Mr. Harvey as Ambassador to Britain, in view of the numerous bitter protests from both Republican and Democratic sources. While President Harding has inquired of Britain whether Mr. Harvey was acceptable, and received a , favorable answer, the formal announcement oi his appointment has been submitted to the Senate at the coming session- Since the decision was made President Harding has been surprised at the popular disfavor of Mr. Harvey, whose biting journalistic policy lias earned him many enemies.—Aus.-N.Z.
