AUSTRALIAN WOOL. By Telegraph.—Press Assn—Copyright. Melbourne, March 19. The Wool Conference agreed that the allocations of quantities of wool be arranged by the British and Australian Boards of the Realisation Association, provided the quantity for Australian auctions be not less than that for the English auctions, and the association accepts the responsibility of redeeming five million sterling priority wool certificates before July 31.—Aub.-N.Z. Cable Assn. PROFITEERING CHARGE. Sydney, March 19. The Full Court decided that the person offering a commodity for sale is the seller under the Profiteering Act in an appeal on February 5. The court decided that the offer for sale disclosed no evidence of unreasonable profit. A cablegram on February 5 said that a case before the Profiteering Court is held up pending the decision of the Supreme Court whether the person who offers an article for sale can be termed the seller. A firm was charged with having sold a sideboard at 90 per cent, profit. . WAGES MAY FALL. Sydney, March 19. The opinion is prevalent in Labor circles that a reduction of wages is imminent throughout the Commonwealth to synchronise with the reduction in the cost of living. Some union officials are not opposed to a. reduction of the basic wage if the fall in the cost of living is in a greater ratio. Employers favor a round-table conference to consider wages in relation to unemployment. Aiderman Brooks, ex-president of the Employers’ Federation, fareweTied on the eve of his departure for England, stated that he had no patience with employers who talked wildly of a general reduction in wages. The question must be considered in relation only to those industries which were unable to carry on owing to the high wages and short hours.
