Taranaki Cadets’ Championship, 100 yards. —Wilson 1, Brown 2, Jarvie 3. 440 Yards Open Handicap.—Scott (Hawera) 10yds 1, Willis (New Plymouth) 30yds 2, Greenbanks (Hawera) 35yds 3. Time, 53sec. One Mile Walk Handicap.—Mahoney (Hawera) scr 1, Young (Hawera) syds 2. Ser-geant-Major Mahoney finished about 35 yards ahead of Young, and as be finished, three hearty cheers were given for the winner. Thread the Needle Race.—Weir 1, Flaval 2, Scott 3. This race caused a good deal oi amusement, and thanks are due to the ladles who carnm forward to thread the needles for the competitors. Boys’ Race (under 14 years), 100 yards.— Nicholas 1, Dowdle 2, Lay 3. Time, 13 2-5 sec. Boys’ Race (under 16 years), 220 yards.— Bethune 1, Loretz 2, Powell 3. Time, SOsec. 440 Yards Relay Race, each man to run 110 yards.—Civil Service 1, Tennis Club 2. The names of the competitors in the winding team were: Wilkinson, Whittington, Rouse, and Hollman. Tug-of-War.—Returned Soldiers 1, The names of the competitors were: Andrews, V C., Grant, V.C., Constables Mullin and Andrews, F. Foden, Kelson and Gray. Relay Race (Hawera v. New Plymouth).— Hawera 1. The winning competitors were: Scott, Wilkinson, Holtman and Weir. Education Board 100 yards.—Robinson 1, Cole 2. This was a scratch race and caused a good dc.nl of amusement. The first and second tmen in the 100 yards tied, and both raced again from 5 yard*. Robinson won by a nose,-—BtM.
