Advice from Berlin reports that Talaat Pasha was assassinated in the street, and his wife wounded.—Reuter Service. Received March 16, 5.5 p.m. Berlin, March 15. Talaat Pasha was assassinated by an Armenian while he was walking in the street. He was living under an assumed name in a flat near the scene of the tragedy. The motive is said to be revenge for the Armenian massacres. — Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. Received March 16, 5.5 p.m. Berlin, March 15. Talaat Pasha was walking on Wednesday when a youth overtook him and tapped him on the shoulder, claiming acquaintance. He then drew a revolver and shot 'Talaat Pasha in the head, while a second shot was aimed at and wounded a lady. Onlookers seized the assassin and almost lynched him before, the police intervened. In broken German the murdered man said: “We are both foreigners; this is nothing to do with you.” Talaat Pasha evidently feared assassi-nation,-for he frequently changed his ad-dress—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. Talaat Pasha was a former Grand Vizier of Turkey.
