FIGHT IN DUBLIN STREET, MILITARY AND CIVILIANS CLASH. , A SAVAGE ENCOUNTER. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, March 15Shots were fired at a police car from a house in Brunswick Street, Dublin. The fire was returned and three civilians were killed, two of whom were ai%ied. A quantity of ammunition and revolvers was found in the house. Five police were wounded, two seriously. Received March 16, 5.5 p.m. London, March 15. A semi-official account of the fight in Brunswick Street, Dublin, shows that it was one of the most savage affairs in the city’s history. Apart from the attack from houses there was a regular ambush in the street. Several parties of armed civilians opened fire on two tenders loaded with auxiliaries, who were about to raid premises. The driver of the first car, with great presence of mind, instead of stopping, charged a "roup ahead, from whom the heaviest fusdade came, and the auxiliaries leaped into their midst. Shots and a fierce hand-to-hand duel ensued. The commanding officer had emptied both his revolvers, when he found himself confronted by a man with a large automatic pistol. He tackled his assailant low, brought him to the ground, and made him a prisoner. Three more attackers are reported killed. One auxiliary was so badly wounded that he died later and another is dying. Auxiliaries, while routing out armed civilians in the vicinity, engaged in a series of isolated encounters, suffering and inflicting several casualties.—Aus.N.Z. Cable Assn.
