BASES IN THE PACIFIC. REASONS FOR THE MOVE. By Telegraph—Press Assn—Copyright. Received March 16, 5.5 p.m. Washington, March 15. Navy officials explain that the drafting of plans for stationing the whole of the. American Fleet in the Pacific is part of the programme, to take a complete inventory of the American Navy. The Navy Department does not anticipate any present danger which would require placing the entire fleet in th* Pacific, but it is anxious to determine whether the West Coast facilities are adequate to accommodate all the American ships should an emergency require it.—Aus.-N.Z.
