REPATRIATING DESERTERS.

FREE PASSAGES HOME. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, March 12. A small number of soldiers deserted in England where, fearing the consequences, they have remained. Many of them have dependents, and the Government has decided to grant an amnesty and allow them to return. They will be given a free passage. This is not so much, it is explained, to whitewash these men, but for the sake of their dependents. Endeavors have been made to locate them without success, but the news of the amnesty is expected to bring them out of their hiding places.
