At the wool sales there was an average selection of “Bawra” wool, but the reserves were high and less than a third was sold at late rates. The New Zealand St. Helen’s clip brought 3i%d. Total offerings at the sale which concluded the series, were 72,502 free and 57,807 bales “Bawra." About three-quar-ters were sold. The next sales begin on April 5. m HE WAIHI MINE. London, March 5. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd.. Hawera Branch, market re-, port for week ending March 5, 1921: On Saturday, February 26, we held our Hawera Ram Fair, when the advertised number came forward to meet a good demand for Southdowns, and fairly brisk bidding for other breeds. Practically the whole entry changed owners before leaving the yards. We quote:— Southdowns (1 to 2 shear) 10 gns. tb 10% gns., 3 shear ditto B%gns., f.ra. ditto £1 Is, Border Leicester 2 sgns., stud Romneys, 6-tooth and f.m. £3 3s to 9gns., flock Romneys (1 stear) l%gns. to 2%gns., others at market value. On Mon3ay at Kakaramea a fair yarding of all classes was submitted to a poor demand. We quote:—aFat and forward cows £3 10s to £5 17s 6d, weaner, heifers (Holstein and Shorthorn) to £24, store pigs to 325, small ditto to 15s and 18s, weaners 6s. At Eltham on Wednesday, we had a fair yarding. Prices were on a -par with late rates. Owing to Thursday being Show Day, we held our Hawera sale on Friday. We had a good Warding of sheep, but a small entry of and for botbi classes a very, weak market prevailed throughout. We quote:— Forward cows to £4 Bs, cows and calves £5, bulls £2 2s 6d to £3, lambs (shorn medium) 8s 3d to 10s 6d, woolly 7s, culls 4s, store pigs to 21s 6d, suckers 7s Cd. At Hamilton Thursday, March 3, we had a good yarding of sheep and pigs, but only a middling entry of cattle. The position in regard to stock generally remains unchanged. Values for beef were, however, much ahead of those quoted by the export companies. Medium weight steers made £l3 2s 6d, medium cows £6 5s to £B, lighter weights £4 to £5 10s. A line of 2-year steers was yarded, but failed to draw any competition. Two-year heifers realised £5 10s. Yearling steers up to £3, medium calves to £l, small 8s to 10s, fat ewes were not in strong demand making 15s to 18s. Forward ewes 8s to 12s, lambs 5s to 9s, store sheep were weak and practically all offerings were passed in. Pigs were in good supply, but values declined, from the previous week. Baconers made to £3 10s. Porkers 25s to 50s, and weaners 2s to 10s. THE FARMERS’ CO-OP REPORT. The Farmers’ Co-operative Organisation Society of New Zealand, Ltd , market report for week ending March 5, 1921: The sales for the week have been anything but cheerful. Export buyers have not been operating, and It has only been possible to sell at low money. In fact, in many cases it has been hard to quit at any prices, sheep have shown a big decline on late rates. At Opunake on Monday, good cows made £4 15s, others £2 to £3, bulls 30s to £2 7s 6d, dairy cows £8 to £8 15s, 2%-year forward steers £6 14s, weaner steers to 18s, heifers 25s to 30s. On Tuesday at Manala we had a good yarding, pigs were forward in large numbers, and prices were considerably easier. Lambs made (woolly) 12s 6d, shorn Ils 6d, best cows £4 12s, others £2 to £3 ss, old £1 to £3, bulls £1 to £2, best Jersey weaners £5, others £1 to £2 4s, best store pigs to £1 los, porkers £2 ss, suckers 5s to Bs. On the same day at Stratford we had a good yarding, best cows made to £6, others £2 to £4, empty heifers £4 ss, weaner heifers to £2 ss, others £1 to 30s, bulls 30s to £4, best lambs to 12s 6d. At Inglewood on Wednesday we had a full yarding of sheep and cattle, bidding was dull and dragging. Cull ewes as, lambs 12s, best cows £4 to £4' 10s, others £2 to £3, empty 18-month heifers to £3, steers unsaleable, weaner heifers 35s to £3, according to quality and breed, steers 15s to 255, •bulls £2 to £4. On Thursday at Inglewood we yarded -3500 sheep. Best ewes mixed ages to 15s to 10s 6d, culls sorts 5s to 7s„ best woolly lambs to 15s, shorn lambs best to 12s* Gd, good lambs to 9s, culls 5s to 6s, small 2-tooth wethers 9s 4d, Romney Rams 2%gns., and 1% gns., Lincolns 1 gn. On Friday at Puniwaka, we held, our annual sheep fair, when we had a small entry. Wethers made to 13s 6d, young ewes to 13s 6d, 4-year ewes to 10s 6d, cull lambs to 4s, 2%year incalf heifers £7 to £7 ss, 18-month do £6, 3-year steers £6. On the same day at Auroa we had a small entry. Lambs made 9s to 9s 3d, cows £2 to £2 10s, heifers to £2,
