PROFITEERING ALLEGED.
TWO AUCKLAND CASES. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. Two charges of profiteering against Auckland business firms were mentioned before Mr. Poynton, S.M., this morning. Ernest E. Leaning, bootmaker, was charged that on December 4 he sold a pair of hand-sewn boots for £4 19s 6d, a price alleged to be unreasonably high. Tonson. Garlick, Ltd., were charged that on September 6 they sold thirtytwo mattress cases for £B6 10s 9d—a price alleged to be unreasonably high. On behalf of the Board of Trade, Mr. Meredith applied for an adjournment for a week of the ease against leaning, and for an indefinite adjournment of the other case. The application was granted.
