ESTIMATES FOR THE YEAR RECEIPTS PUT AT £18,580. Estimates of receipts and expenditure in the New Plymouth tramways department for the coming financial year—April 1, 1921, to March 31, 1922—were received and adopted at last night’s meeting of the Borough Council. Receipts are set down ’’at £18,580, of which fares (£18,500) comprise the main item. In the estimate of expenditure a balance of £lO2O is allowed for at the end of the year. The biggest item is salaries and wages, motormen and conductors, fitter, office, supervision, etc., £5OOO. An allowance of £2OO is made for increases. Electric power is estimated at £l5OO, interest £3025. depreciation £B7'2, and renewals £2300. Other items are: Cleaning and/oiling cars £4SO, cleaning traiGk £460, picket check £6OO, permanent way repairs £550, electric cars £650, sinking fund £3OO. ELECTRICITY DEPARTMENT. In the electricity department the income was estimated at £27,575, sale of light and power producing £20,500. The revenue from the sale of goods was set down at £3OOO, and the estimated amount of stock and stores as shown by stock sheets was £3OOO.
The estimate of the probable expenditure allowed an estimated balance of £4500. Salaries and wages for repairs and maintenance were put down at £4540, and for Generation £1255. Othtr items were: Purchase of stock £3OOO, purchase of stores £4OOO, interest on loans £3016, renewals £3620, depreciation £920, extra depreciation on new loans £5OO. ELECTRIC BUS. Bus receipts, were put down at £ll6O, and a debit balance of £2OO was shown, making the total on that side £1360. The list of estimated expenditure included the following items: Wages £5OO, power £llO, contingencies £lOO, interest £9O, depreciation £2lO.
