THE BUILDING TRADE.

ACTIVITY NOT SO MARKED. A tightening of the money market, together with the feeling held by some people that prices will fall, seeni to be the contributing factors in the slackening’ off of the building trade, which has apparently taken place in various parts of the Dominion during the last month or so. New Plymouth has shaded this experience, for last month (February) the value of buildings for which permits were issued by the New Plymouth Borough Council was only £7BOO, which is somewhat below the average maintained for some time. Considering, however, that February is a short month, the difference cannot be said to be a very marked one. The total includes ten dwelling houses.
