The death took place on Sunday morning of Mr. Thomas Parsons, Mayor of Eketahuna, aged 80. He arrived in New Zealand 50 years ago and resided at Masterton, but for the last 33 years has lived at Eketahuna. He was the prime mover in co-operative dairying in the Wellington province, was chairman of the Dairy Union for 23 years, director of the Dairy Produce Cool Storage Company, and took a prominent part in local bodies and associations. He was formerly chairman of the Road Board and County Council, also chairman r of the first Land Settlement Association. He was one of the first councillors of the Masterton Borough Council.
Attention is drawn to the working bee on Baines Terrace, to take place next Thursday afternoon. Last summer much useful and rather costly work was done in this locality, but owing to lack of funds no work'lias been done this season. It is, however, hoped that by voluntary labor the pathway may be cleaned up aiyt extended, and the growth on the slopes cut away and burnt. ,
