MURDER AND ROBBERY. TWO DETECTIVES KILLED. By Telegraph .-'Press Assn.—Copyright. Received Feb. 24, 5.5 p.m. London, Feb. 23. Several householders in Cork and Midleton have issued writs against the military authorities in connection with the destruction of property in making reprisals. Armed men in Dublin shot dead two R.I.C. detectives, and another was dangerously wounded. Armed and disguised men held up a bank clerk in a street in Cork and stole £ 1760.—Au5.-N.Z. Cable Assn. MORE AMBUSHES. London, Feb. 23. The police early this morning searched the Fleet Street office of the Irish Independent arising out of the seizure of documents in recent London raids. The police deported to Ireland Sean M'Grath, secretary of the Irish Selfdetermination League. The bodies of three privates in uniform were found in a field at Woodford (Galway), also a note inscribed “Spies tried by court-martial.” There were several ambushes in Ireland yesterday in which two police were killed and six wounded. REPRISAL FOR MURDER. London, Feb. 23. Wild scenes followed the shooting of a Unionist merchant at Rosslea, Fermanagh. Nine houses and shops were burned down, it is alleged by civilians.
