PAYING OFF LOANS. A CONCESSION ALLOWED BY GOVERNMENT. The New Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association recently made representations to the Minister for Lands * (the Hon. D. H. Guthrie)* pointing out that as many returned soldier farmers had decided to hold their wool clips instead of selling at the. ruling prices, the majority of them would not be in a position to meet their half-yearly loan instalment now due, and asking for an extension of the period for securing the A per cent, rebate—to those who can prove they are holding their wool—for three or six months. .The Minister has now informed the secretary of the association that the Commissioner of Crown Lands has been instructed that payment of rent and instalments on loan moneys may, upon application, be postponed a period of six months from January 1. without interest being charged on the amounts so postponed. Upon rents and instalments being paid promptly on the forward date, the usual rebate would be allowed. “Application for postponement.” the Minister added, "must be submitted to the Land Board for consideration, and T can assure you that its recommendations will receive my sympathetic consideration.” The y 2 per cent, rebate is made only on the interest portion of the halfyearly instalment, and not UDon the jjrinoisftLjsiwL-
