LAWN TENNIS.

TARANAKI v. AUCKLAND. Referring to the Taranaki-Auckland match, the Auckland Star says:—The Aucldand Association having accepted the invitation-of the Taranaki Association to send a team there on February 17, the next item of interest is the selection of the six or eight men and four ladies who will go down and seek revenge for the defeat which Taranaki inflicted here last year. At the time of writing the team has not been selected, but Laurenson, Bartlett, Webster, Snelling, Sims and Robson are names that suggest more or less certain inclusion on their present form, should they be available. If Mrs. Hodges and Miss Marjory Macfarlane make the trip the ladies’ division can be counted on to moae than hold its own.
