In the semi-final of tl?e amateur championship Hooper and Frj’ are playing three sessions of 666 each. In the first session Fry early took the lead, and was 231 when Hooper was 133. The latter then opened brilliantly, making breaks of 66, 73, and 130, and winning bj' 666 to 332. Later. Fry, by extraordinarily consistent play, has scored 1334 and Hooper 1247. The evening session of 3% hours is regarded as historic for the tenacity of both men.
