HYDRO-ELECTRIC POWER.
SUPPLYING SOUTH TARANAKI. PROPOSALS GF THE COUNCIL. In reply to a query by the Eltham Hydro-electric Committee, the New Plymouth Borough Council last night decided to inform the committee that whilst the council anticipate being able to supply power for the Stratford and Eltham districts in approximately two years’ time, it cannot, in view of various circumstances beyond the control of the council, give any definite assurance to this effect; that if supplied the power will be .supplied at the boundary between the Inglewood and New Plymouth supply areas, the transmission lines beyond this point to be erected by the Government, or by the power boards concerned.
The committee is also to be informed that the electrical engineer will visit Eltham to define the area of the proposed power district as soon as the Eltham committee supply the plan promised by them showing the reading, the dairy factories, and the location of other probable power consumers.
