SWIMMING.
AT AUCKLAND. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Last Night. An arrival by the Makura from Vancouver to-day was Miss Ethelda Bloibtrey, champion lady swimmer in the 100 and 200 metres contests at the recent Antwerp Olympiad. Miss Bleibtrey was also a member of the American relay team which won first place in the contests. By these performances she is accredited the world’s champion lady swimmer. Miss Bleibtrey has come to New Zealand and Australia to participate at swimming carnivals. The New Zealand Swimming Association has made arrangements whereby the champion lady swimmer will take part in local contests to be held to-morrow and Satur-. day. Two other famous swimmers also arrived by the Makura to-day. These are Tua Kealoha, who ranks next to Duke Kahanamoku as the world’s fastest swimmer, and Ludy Langer, 220, 440 and 880 yards champion. The champion swimmer, Miss Blcibtrey, tours the Dominion before going to Australia.
