MANAWATU v. HANKE’S BAY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Palmerston N-, Last Night. Fof the Manawatu v. Hawke’s Bay match the weather was fine and the wicket very fast. Batting first, and playing with ten men, the visitors compiled 153 runs. Smart fielding by the home team, and the good bowling of Burton, were responsible for the small tally. Manawatu replied with a total of 283. Hawke’s Bay have started well in their second innings, and so far only have lost one wicket for 102 runs. Hindmarsh was bowled by McNeely for 31, while the two not out men are Jacobsen 61, and Ashcroft 4. Jacobsen, when stumps were drawn, was scoring well, and in the course of his innings hit many boundaries.
