THE BANNER COMPETITION. YESTERDAY’S MATCHES. Play in the banner competition in North Taranaki was continued yesterday At New the New Plymouth Club’s A team defeated Waitara, 1'15—92. West End A mer. defeat at the hands of Fitzroy, 70—132, while West End B team defeated Vogeltown by 109 to 60. Details of the matches are given below:— NEW PLYMOUTH v. WAITARA. A very enjoyable game was played on the New Plymouth bowling green between Waitara and New Plymouth A tjeam. A meeting of the Taranaki Bowling Centre was held last night. It was reported that so far about fifty entries have been received for the forthcoming tournament, which opens on the 24th inst. Practically all clubs in Taranaki will be represented, and among visiting teams are included bowlers from St. John’s (Wanganui), Taihape, and Auckland. A meeting of the entertainment committee, in connection with the visit of the N.S.W. team, was fixed for a fortnight hence. #
