THE DEADLY PEA-RIFLE By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Deo. 31. Tui Ballantyne, aged 14, died from the effects of a wound caused by the accidental discharge of a pea-rifle. Deceased, with a cousin, Trevor Clarkson, aged 14, was returning from rabbit shooting at Springfield on Wednesday when the rifle carried by Clarkson, which he thought to be unloaded, was discharged, the bullet entering Ballantyne’s ’body. The injured lad was brought to Christchurch and operated on, but he failed to rally.
