TOWN CLERK IN TROUBLE. By Telegraph.—Press Associatioa, Wellington, Dec. 31. James Archer, formerly town clerk of Mastertoij, appeared in the Magistrate’s Court charged, with having made a false document on March 20, 1918, by signing the name “P. J. Murphy,” to a receipt for £39 15s 2d. On. the application of the police accused was remanded to appear at Masterton on January 7. The police stated that about a dozen additional charges were pending. Bail was allowed in two sureti/s of £4OO each.
