ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
FALL FROM A WHARF, By Tdecraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Dec. 30. Daniel M'Garvey, a visitor from Whakatane, fell from the wharf on to a scow. His back was severely injured and be was taken to the hospital. Ilia condition is critical. A SWAGGER'S SUICIDIi. • Carterton, Dec. 29. The police were informed last night that a man had committed suicide at Gladstone. They went out at 9 o'clock and found a man lying dead in a paddock with his throat cut with a razor. The body was brought to Carterton and an inquest was held to-day. ■ IJeeeiwed was a swagger. He left Wellington on Tuesday with his brother and visited Martinboroiigh and then Gladstone. Deceased had been in bad health for the last six months, but there was no indication of his intention to commit suicide. The body was indentified bv his brother as that of Stephen Sullivan, aged about 50.
FATAL ACCIDENT WITH DISCS. Fielding, Dec. !W. An inquest into the death of A. E. Prior, of Halcombe, proved that deceased was driving some discs and became unseated, and his leg' was struck by a dine blade, which severed an artery. Prior unhitched the horses and started to walk home, which was a mile away, but collapsed and was found in a fainting condition. He died while being conveved to a doctor from loss of blood
